Thank you, teachers!

Teachers have one of the most important jobs in the world. They play a major role in developing and securing the future – our children. Teachers pour their time and energy into nurturing their students; in fact, 88% of people say that a teacher has had a positive impact on their life. Teachers provide knowledge, support and guidance to their students, and shape our young people into adults equipped for whatever path they choose to take.

In a year like 2020, we’ve seen firsthand how important teachers are to our children and our society. From helping students navigate the “new normal” of remote learning to easing their apprehensions surrounding school reentry, our teachers have worked tirelessly to continue education despite the challenges handed to us.

Teachers are constantly working to integrate creative, innovative instruction methods in the classroom, as they know it’s a proven way to enhance their students’ approach toward education. In the Gallup Creativity in Learning report, it was found that

75% of teachers who encourage creativity in learning saw students increase their ability to problem solve, and 81% of teachers said using technology in their lesson plans is best for helping students connect to the real world.

However, despite the best possible efforts by schools and local governments, many teachers find themselves having to pay for the “extra” materials they believe could further enrich a student’s educational experience. Actually, a recent study by the Economic Policy Institute concluded that the average K-12 teacher in the U.S. spends about $459 annually on supplies. That’s why the mission of the Collierville Education Foundation is to aid teachers pursuing innovative, engaging educational practices. CEF works to furnish grants that supply teachers with materials that are not budgeted by the school system, but can take their classroom from exceptional to extraordinary.

Thank you, teachers, for all that you do in promoting academic excellence in Collierville Schools – and all around the world. Please join with us in continuing to support teachers. They need a display of our gratitude now more than ever.
